Unwrapping books is probably the most exciting part about Christmas morning (besides the cinnamon rolls!!). Every year, I make sure to ask for the books I’m most impatient to read, to make Christmas that much more fun. This year, I asked for a handful, and I must be on the nice list because Santa brought me everything I asked for! Here are the books I received for Christmas this year.
Motherhood by Sheila Heti
I absolutely cannot wait to dive into Motherhood– despite already being in the middle of two books already, I cracked open Heti’s novel first thing on Christmas morning.
Marlena by Julie Buntin
Marlena has been on my list for ages; I have a thing for debut novels, and this one sounds right up my alley, plus I absolutely adore everything Henry Holt publishes, so I know Marlena won’t disappoint.
Too Much and Not the Mood by Durga Chew-Bose
This one came out last year, back when I was in my fiction-only phase, but now that I’m starting to widen my horizons and read more nonfiction and essay collections, I’m excited to finally get around to Too Much and Not the Mood.
Speedboat by Renata Adler
Speedboat is an *obscure* title from the ’70s, but one that a few of my bookish friends have loved this year, so I’ve decided to give it a go. Plus the cover is absolutely stunning, am I right??!
Outline by Rachel Cusk
I’m so so SO excited to dive into Rachel Cusk; this is another title that so many other readers have loved, so I have high hopes for Outline and the rest of the trilogy.
What books did you find under the tree this year? Let’s chat!
