I just moved in to my new apartment for a semester-long internship in Florida!!! I’m sure I won’t have much time for reading since I’ll be working a minimum of thirty hours per week, probably double that some weeks, and (hopefully) exploring in my spare time, but I’m going to try to read at least a little while I’m here. I don’t want to take too much time away from reading because it is essentially my job as an English major, and taking a semester off would make it so much more difficult to return to in the fall. Plus, reading is how I relax and rejuvenate as an introvert, so I’ll be sure to make some time for self-care in the form of books during my internship. However, having said that, it will be so nice to take a little break from schoolwork and all the reading that comes with it!
Here are the books I’m packing with me for my semester in Florida:
Too Much and Not the Mood by Durga Chew-Bose
Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh
Speedboat by Renata Adler
Quiet by Susan Cain
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
Outline by Rachel Cusk
Marlena by Julie Buntin
Golden Child by Claire Adam
Motherhood by Sheila Heti
Bibliophile by Jane Mount
I also had some last-minute additions, not pictured above:
White Teeth by Zadie Smith
My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante
It was so hard to choose from my stack of unread books! Crossing my fingers that I can get to some of these while I’m there. Wish me luck!
xx,
Hannah
P.S. Thanks to Izzy at Thinking and Inking for the post inspiration!
Enjoy your adventure in Florida!

Thank you Izzy!! 😀 I just read SWING TIME and adored it, and I’ve heard WHITE TEETH is even better so I’m really looking forward to it!
