Current Reads: April 29, 2019

I am home sweet home after a few months away and it feels so good!  While I’m busy spring-cleaning my bedroom, spending time with family, and slowly putting my life back together, I thought I’d share a glimpse of what I’m reading right now.  After a while of reading just one book at a time, it feels good to jump around between titles a bit.

April 16 marked the American release of my most anticipated read of the year: Normal People by Sally Rooney.  I read her debut novel, Conversations with Friends, just a few short months ago and it quickly became one of my favorite novels last year.  There seems to be a distinct divide between Rooney readers over those who prefer Conversations and those who prefer Normal People, but after loving the former so much I find it hard to believe I would dislike the latter.  Either way, I am happy to have my hands on it!

I’m also reading Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre, which I read for the first time more than four years ago.  One of my lovely roommates in Florida- a fellow English major- and I shared Jane Eyre as our favorite classic, and I’ve been dying to revisit its pages since the first of our many early-morning bookish discussions.  I even purchased a fresh copy for the occasion, given that my high school paperback was incredibly beat-up and barely legible with my handwriting scrawled across the yellowing pages.
