Packing the Paperbacks: A Week in the Outer Banks

One of my favorite parts about going on vacation is packing the books I want to read on my journey!  Tomorrow morning my family and I will be making the twelve-hour road-trip to our rental house in Nags Head, North Carolina, where we’ll be for the entire week in the sand, listening to the ocean waves while getting sucked into some great books!

I’m packing:

An American Marriage by Tayari Jones
Quiet by Susan Cain
Homesick for Another World by Ottessa Moshfegh
Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff
The Girls by Emma Cline

It’s always nice to have a bit of variety, so I’ve decided on three novels, one short story collection, and one nonfiction title.  With two full days on the road and six days on the beach, I’m confident I’ll make a good dent in this stack (between wild horse adventures and trips to the boardwalk, of course!).

xx,
Hannah

  1. Those are great vacation choices! The Girls is appropriately creepy (better read outside in the sun than alone at night!). I liked Quiet a lot and, as an introvert, found it very interesting to see my own mind and habits reflected back at me. Have a great holiday!
